For the last 16 years David Borman has been designing, redesigning and building the world’s fastest offshore racing boats like the one pictured here on the cover of Powerboat Magazine.
Feeling that the skillset he acquired from offshore racing gave him unique insight into accomplishing the maritime world’s long-sought goal of building wing-in-ground effect vessels, he set out to design what would become known as The Seaphantom.
Using a NASA lifting body as the central concept, he successfully built and patented the first Seaphantom in 2007. For his efforts, he was nominated by the International Academy of Sciences for Outstanding Technology of the Year and featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Future Ships”.
