Santa Cruz de Tenerife is located on the north-east section of Tenerife Island in the Spanish Canary Islands, which lie off the north-west coast of Africa. The island of Tenerife features surreal landscapes painted with multicoloured lava in its national park. For more conventional pleasures, visit the flower-filled Orotava Valley and the fashionable resort of Puerto de la Cruz. The city itself is a melting pot of diverse cultures that give it a cosmopolitan character. The main landmarks of the city include the Auditorio de Tenerife, Auditorium of Tenerife, the Santa Cruz Towers, Torres de Santa Cruz, and the Iglesia de la Concepcion. Then there are the Towers of Santa Cruz that are the tallest twin towers in Spain, the large Spain Square with its artificial lake, the fascinating Tenerife Opera House and the first headquarters of the Centre UNESCO in the Canary Islands.
Enjoy the beach of La Teresitas in the village of San Andres, the Garacia Sanabria Public park in the centre of the city with its delightful plants and fountains, and contrast this with a visit to the Museum of Nature and Man with its formidable collection of Guanche Mummies and subsequently the world’s reference in regard to preservation of mummies. There is much to be appreciated at this harbour, one of the busiest in Spain that host regular ferries, fast ferries, merchant ships and of course, cruise ships.
